And then ,they occupied Hong Kong ,colony of UK and Malaysia, colony of UK. After attacking Pearl Harbor with unguarded moment 3 days later, Japanese aircraft attacked and sank 2 famous British Battleships near Malaysia beaches. In 1942 early, Japanese army attacked East India archipelago (now-Indonesia and Timor-Leste),colonies of Dutch and Philippines. Many large cannons were installed to protect attacking from sea in Singapore ,colony of Britain. British assumed not to protect because of the big black forest and muddy lakes in north of Singapore. Japanese troops went across that and attacked Singapore from Malaysia .British army surrendered in 15,February ,1942. Japan got 80,000 military prisoners.
Most fields occupied by Japanese troops contained a lot of big islands and small islands and between islands were too far. Thus, dominance the sea was important. Japanese Military Marshall Admiral Yamamoto proved practically that warships could be sunk due to attacking of aircraft flown from aircraft carriers Thus, the key of dominance the sea was that dominance the sky was seen. They understood that aircraft carriers fence protected by warships warplanes from them were as main attacking power to attack in the sea battlefields. In attacking sea battle, military rivalry warships fleet changed method which warplanes from aircraft carriers with matching each other. In the Battle of coral sea, US lost 1aircraft carriers and Japan lost 2 aircraft carriers. Consequently, Japanese troops could not occupy New Gueni finally .If they could do, they can invade Australia.
